IMPOTENCE & LIBIDO ENHANCEMENT

Impotence - the inability to achieve or maintain an erection often referred to as erectile dysfunction or ED - affects hundreds of thousands of males all over the world. Most of them have perfectly normal levels of desire. Most men with lack of libido can achieve erections, but have lost the desire to have sex.

Loss of libido is far more common in women and just as with men, causes are either physical or psychological.

Prevalence
12% of men under the age of 45 experience occasional to frequent Impotence.

51% of otherwise healthy men between the ages of 45 and 70 experience occasional to frequent Impotence.

Substances that Alleviate Male Impotence

Alkaloids
Galanthamine (30 - 60 mg per day) alleviates (both forms of) Male Impotence.

Yohimbine (6 - 10 mg per day) alleviates Male Impotence.

Amino Acids
Arginine alleviates Male Impotence (by stimulating the production of Nitric Oxide, the endogenous chemical that stimulates Erections in males).

Glutamine alleviates Male Impotence.

Hormones
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) (50 mg per day for at least eight weeks) alleviates Male Impotence.

Testosterone alleviates Male Impotence.

Lipids
Forskolin is useful in the treatment of Male Impotence. research
Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) prevents Male Impotence:

- Exogenous, supplemental PGE1 (administered via intracavernosal injection into the penis) alleviates Male Impotence.

- Recently, a Prostaglandin E1 gel has been developed, that when applied topically to the Penis, stimulates Erections in Male Impotence patients (it is not yet commercially available).

Minerals
Molybdenum deficiency can cause Impotence.

Impotence can occur as a result of Phosphorus deficiency.

Neuropeptides
Oxytocin stimulates Erections in males (and thereby may alleviate Male Impotence) - the mechanism by which Oxytocin stimulates male Erections is via its ability to stimulate the Nitric Oxide Synthase enzyme that in turn leads to Nitric Oxide production).

Nitrogen Compounds
Nitric Oxide (NO) is the endogenous chemical that triggers erection in males by relaxing Smooth Muscle in the erection chamber of the Penis.

Pharmaceutical Drugs
Testosterone Enanthate (administered via injection) improves Sexual Performance in Male Impotence patients.

Viagra alleviates Male Impotence - Viagra “works” by blocking Phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5, an endogenous enzyme that permits Blood to flow out of the Penis), thereby helping to sustain erections:

- By inhibiting the Phosphodiesterase 5 enzyme in the Penis, Viagra permits cyclic GMP to remain active and this is the underlying means by which Viagra maintains erections.

- Viagra only “works” for Male Impotence as an adjunct to Sexual Arousal (i.e. it does not cause Erections in the absence of Sexual Desire).

Smart Drugs
Bromocriptine alleviates Male Impotence (where Impotence is caused by excessive production/secretion of Prolactin.

Gamma-Hydroxybutyric Acid (GHB) increases males' ability to achieve Erections.

Minaprine (150 mg per day) alleviates Male Impotence (according to physician’s observations).

Minoxidil helps to overcome Impotence where lack of erection is due to reduced blood supply to the Penis (applied topically to the Penis):

- Relaxes the smooth muscle in the walls of Blood Vessels of the Penis, thereby increasing blood flow and stimulating erection of the Penis.

Vitamins
Male Impotence can occur as a result of Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Vitamin E alleviates Male Impotence.

Foods/Herbs that Alleviate Male Impotence

Animal-Derived Supplements
Velvet Deer Antler may alleviate Male Impotence (according to traditional Chinese herbalists).

Herbs
Ashwagandha alleviates Male Impotence.

Catuaba (a Brazilian Herb) has traditionally been used in the treatment of Male Impotence (it is claimed to increase Blood Circulation to the Penis, however few, if any scientific studies have confirmed its effectiveness).

Caterpillar Fungus alleviates Male Impotence.

Damiana alleviates Male Impotence.

Ginkgo biloba alleviates Male Impotence where the underlying cause of Impotence is impaired Blood Circulation to erectile tissue.

Horny Goat Weed alleviates Male Impotence.

Korean Ginseng (1,800 mg per day) increases Sexual Desire and improves the ability to attain Erections in Male Impotence patients.

Lily of the Valley (oil massaged onto the Penis prior to sexual activity) can stimulate a full erection in Male Impotence patients.

Maca alleviates Male Impotence.

Marapuama (1,750 mg per day) alleviates Male Impotence.

- Clinical studies have demonstrated that Yohimbe (containing 6 mg of Yohimbine per day for at least ten weeks) alleviates Male Impotence in 62% of men whose Impotence is a result of physical malfunctions and alleviates impotence in 46% of men whose Impotence is a result of psychological factors.

- The mechanism by which Yohimbe alleviates Impotence in males is via its Yohimbine content increasing Blood Circulation into the Penis while decreasing blood flow from the Penis (by blocking the Alpha-2-Adrenergic Receptors).

Legumes
Velvet Beans are useful for the treatment of Male Impotence (due to their Alkaloids and L-dopa content).

Seeds

Pharmaceutical Drugs
Clonidine often causes Male Impotence.

Flutamide can cause Male Impotence.

Recreational Drugs
Excessive consumption of Alcohol (ethanol) is an underlying cause of many cases of (physiological) Male Impotence.

Ailments that Increase the Risk of Impotence

Immune System
Male Impotence can occur as a result of the tertiary stage of Syphilis.

Metabolism
Diabetes Mellitus increases the risk of Male Impotence. Male Impotence in Diabetes Mellitus patients occurs as a result of (diabetic) Neuropathy or Thrombosis of the Blood Vessels supplying the Penis.

Nervous System
Excessive Stress can be an underlying cause of Impotence.

Sexual System
Male Impotence is a symptom of Male Menopause (which, in turn, is caused by age-related declining production of Testosterone).

Other Factors that Cause Male Impotence

Electromagnetic Radiation
Radiation Therapy often causes Male Impotence (especially in Prostate Cancer patients).

Forms of Male Impotence
Physiological Male Impotence refers to Male Impotence caused by other physical ailments. Ailments that can caused physiological Male Impotence include Atherosclerosis, Hypertension and Spinal Cord injury:

- Arteriogenic Male Impotence is a form of Physiological Male Impotence that occurs when the Arteries supplying Blood to the Penis do not bring in enough Blood to cause an erection.

Primary Impotence refers to Male Impotence that manifests since birth. It is almost always Physiological Male Impotence.

Psychogenic Male Impotence refers to Male Impotence caused by psychological factors such as Depression.

Secondary Male Impotence is Impotence that sets in after several years of normal Sexual function. It can be either Physiological Male Impotence or Psychogenic Male Impotence.

Male Impotence sufferers can determine whether they have the physiological or the pyschogenic form by using a device that detects their nocturnal erections. Healthy men experience nocturnal (night-time) erections for an average of 100 minutes per night during periods of Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep. These nocturnal erections continue to occur as per normal in men with psychogenic impotence but are absent in men with physiological impotence.
