INTRODUCTION
Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is the energy that permeates and sustains our
entire world. There is an infinite source of this energy,
creating and supporting all of us.
This one uniting energy has been used by many cultures in a
variety of ways. For example, Tai Chi, Qigong (Chi Kung),
Acupuncture, Shiatsu and Yoga. The Reiki healing system has been
used traditionally throughout Japan and India since ancient
times. It was Dr Mikao Usui, in the mid-nineteenth century,
which rediscovered and promoted this almost-lost healing system.
Reiki is a completely natural healing method, accelerating the
body, mind and spirit's healing processes.
During a healing session the reiki practitioner will place their
hands on or near to the receiver according to traditional
methods. The Reiki energy directs itself to the correct areas,
both the exterior bodily symptoms and also the deeper root
causes that may exist in the mind/spirit. For example the
symptom may be a headache but the cause may be stress from a
current situation in life. In this case the Reiki would not only
help the receiver to process and release the pain and tension,
but also it would help them recognise or devise ways of
resolving the stressful situation.
Reiki passes easily through absolutely anything, so it is
unnecessary to remove any clothing during the healing session.
This can be useful when energy has to pass through plaster
casts, and any other obstacles to direct hand contact.
YOUR FIRST VISIT
Learning about the chakras and how to use them for personal
healing is a simple practice which can also be a lot of fun. At
your first session you will have the system explained to you. On
this occasion and on subsequent visits you will explore your
chakras. Using specially selected crystals. During a treatment some people feel heat, cold, sometimes
energy flowing through the body, tingling sensations or
sometimes nothing
at all but most feel very calm and relaxed at the end of a
treatment. Some have a burst of energy and need to relax as the
body adjusts. There are no known contraindications to Reiki
A
full treatment can last up to an hour.
WHAT
IS REIKI?
REIKI is a Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. It is
an ancient system that can be experienced by either "hands
on" (or near) or by distance (remote) healing. Reiki
treatment encourages physical, mental and emotional healing and
spiritual growth. This unique gift of healing is learned by a
process of attunements or initiations.
A person who has been attuned to Reiki has experienced a very
ancient technology for fine-tuning the physical and etheric
bodies to a higher vibrational level. Also, the energy centres
or "chakras" are opened or cleared to enable the
person to channel higher amounts of Reiki energy. Reiki is drawn
through the practitioner, and the recipient's body will draw the
energy to those parts of their body that require it, the
practitioner thereby also being treated as he or she gives the
treatment. Energy enters through the practitioner's crown chakra
and passes through the upper chakras to their heart and solar
plexus chakras and passes out through arms and hands to the
recipient.
The process does not drain the practitioner as the Reiki passes
through a purified channel that is opened by the attunements.
Research workers at Stanford University using sensitive
instruments were able to measure the energy flow in the body and
verified that the Reiki energy enters the crown chakra (head)
and exits through the palm chakras in the hands. The Reiki
energy also seems to flow in an anti-clockwise manner.
Furthermore, Kirlian photography has demonstrated an increase in
the emanations from the hands during treatment.
REIKI
is not a religion
Because Reiki is not attached to any religion or belief system,
it does not conflict with an individual's beliefs, or lack of
beliefs, so Reiki is acceptable to atheists and believers alike,
agnostics and Catholics, Muslims and Pagans. The Japanese
characters making up the word 'Reiki' are usually translated in
the West as meaning 'Universal Life Energy', but the characters
could equally well be translated as meaning 'soul energy',
'aura', 'mysterious spirit', or even 'spiritually guided life
force energy'. The latest interpretation of the word 'Reiki' is
that it can mean 'a system that has been arrived at through a
moment of enlightenment'.
REIKI
doesn't only work on the physical level
Reiki can relieve pain and help to regenerate organs and
tissue. Reiki also loosens blocked energy, promotes total
relaxation and works on the mental and emotional levels
re-establishing mental well-being and equilibrium.
REIKI
is a transformational tool
Reiki will help the development of higher levels of
consciousness and spiritual awareness. It awakens the inner self
to the knowledge that it is a part of all creation, by
stimulating insights, intuition and inner knowing.
REIKI
can be used for self-healing
Daily self treatments will maintain well-being, reduce stress
and encourage the body's natural healing abilities.

The CHAKRAS
There are seven energy centres in the human body known as the 'CHAKRAS'.
Coming from the HINDU word meaning 'wheel', they are
traditionally seen as spinning vortices of various colours. The
Chakras collect and direct energy. Each chakra needs to be able
to function at the correct frequency independently. Each needs
to be balanced, clear, energized, and properly spinning. Each
time all the chakras reach a level of unison the entire physical
vibration of the human body is raised.
When all seven chakras are spinning in harmony, at their own
optimum speed, the system runs smoothly as a single entity.
If we are overloaded, our bodies become out of alignment and
balance affecting the experience of harmony and connectedness
with our self, our environment and our body, mind and spirit.
When you are unbalanced, your chakras can cause failure in any
of these areas. The chakras can be under utilised or overloaded
depending on your current emotional physical intellectual and
spiritual state of being.
When your chakras are not vibrating or spinning properly, each
needs to be balanced, clear and energized. Each chakra affects
different parts of the body. We are too often stuck in the
reality and physicality of life to listen to our inner selves.
When your chakras are blocked you slow down the Chi, the life
force, and the spiritual connection. You may feel depressed, out
of touch, tired, unable to think clearly, or listless. You may
get angry for no reason, be afraid, be unsure of yourself, lack
self-confidence, be unhappy without a direct reason, and have a
general negative outlook on life. All of these are indications
that you have a problem to resolve that is chakra based.
It is important that you try to maintain the correct energy flow
through each chakra since you could also negatively be affected
by a chakra being too open.
Chakra balancing works to identify chakras that are out of
balance and to re-establish balance.
