ARTERIOSCLEROSIS

A common arterial disorder characterized by yellowish plaque of cholesterol, lipids, and cellular debris in the inner layers of the walls of large and medium-sized arteries. Vessel walls become thick, fibrotic, and calcified; the lumen narrows, reducing circulation in organs and areas supplied by the artery.

Components of Atherosclerotic Plaque

Cells
Degenerated, aggregated Platelets (“foam cells”) are one of the components of atherosclerotic plaque.

Decaying Muscle Cells are one of the components of atherosclerotic plaque.

Lipoproteins
Oxidized LDL Cholesterol is a component of atherosclerotic plaque.
Lipoprotein (a) is a component of atherosclerotic plaque.

Fatty Acids are a component of atherosclerotic plaque.

Endogenous Proteins are a component of Lipoproteins in atherosclerotic plaque.

Minerals
Calcium is a component of atherosclerotic plaque.

Atherosclerosis Interferes with these Substances

Neurotransmitters

- This reduction in Nitric Oxide production occurs as a result of Atherosclerosis damaging the Endothelium of Blood Vessels where Nitric Oxide is normally produced.

Contraindications - Atherosclerosis Patients Should Not Use these Substances
Smart Drugs

Atherosclerosis patients should not use supplemental, exogenous Vasopressin.
