Case No. 2, Mr. S, aged 24 - this is a case that was published in Dr. Georgiou's book entitled "Curing the Incurable with Holistic Medicine: The DaVinci Secret Revealed."
Main presenting problem:
Astrocytoma stage II (Brain tumour)
In 2006 this young, postgraduate university student was diagnosed with a diffuse WHO grade II astrocytoma (left parietal and temporal lobes) which was surgically removed in the UK – about 60% was resected. This was also confirmed by routine histology in anatomic pathology in the UK.
In September 2007 he had developed numbness in the right leg, dizziness and focal seizures with speech arrest and paresis of the right arm. An MRI scan showed a non-contrast enhancing tumour in the left insular region. The tumour reached the Broca’s area with its frontal and the Wernicke’s area with its dorsal circumference. The pyramid tract is medially dislocated. A German neurosurgeon performed another resection with bilingual speech monitoring and neuronavigation under awake conditions – the histology exam showed a Glioblastoma WHO Grade IV.
The IDEL Diagnostic Programme brought to light a number of potential causative factors. VEGA testing for food intolerances identified the following foods: wheat, lactose and dairy products, chicken, pork, citrus and sugar (he was a ‘sugarholic’ in his teens). Lactose was his primary allergens that completely blocked his regulation or ANS.
Organ testing using VEGA and ART showed energetic organ imbalances in the liver, gallbladder, tonsils, adrenals, jejunum, left brain – cerebrum motor area, and right teeth quadrant, as well as the pancreas. The pancreas was the primary organ on prioritizing testing using ART – this organ is commonly found in cancer patients as it is highly significant in dissolving the sialo-glycogen coating of cancer cells (see chapter 11). He also had systemic Candidiasis, probably related to the IV antibiotics, but also his high sugar consumption.
There were also high levels of electromagnetic and mobile phone stress detected. Apparently he was quite addicted to electronic games when younger, sitting in front of the TV for many years, as well as using the mobile phone for many years – he is left-handed and used the mobile phone mainly on the left ear where the tumour was identified (exactly in the area where the mobile phone sits).
Thermography showed hyperthermic patterns encircling the buccal cavity on the left side which indicated an oral dental or periodontal pathology. There was a slight vertical type hyperthermia that may relate to the epigastric hyperthermia possibly indicating a developing GERD (this was also picked up on the iridological analysis). There was also a slight muscular type diffuse hyperthermia over the entire posterior neck region extending inferiorly to the upper back, through the right and then through the spine to the left side between the scapulas. These muscular inflammatory findings indicate a possible involvement of the trapezius, levator scapula and rhomboid muscles.
Iridological analysis showed hypochlorhydria (he had difficulty digesting protein concentrates with stomach bloating and discomfort), subclinical hypothyroidism with extremely cold hands and feet, pancreatic enzyme deficiency with bowel distension after eating, as well as considerable liver and kidney congestion. There were also indications of cervical and lumbar subluxations.
Darkfield microscopy revealed a number of parasites (there were more than 10 identified in one single drop of blood), as well as a lot of rouleau and high valence fibrinogen, indicating a very congested blood picture with an imbalanced tissue pH. There were also some colourful red symplasts that are characteristic of cancer patients taking chemotherapy such as Thelozamide that he was taking last year.
The white blood cells were viable but generally sluggish showing compromised immunity.
The Biological Terrain Analysis from saliva and urine indicated the saliva pH was very alkaline with highly acidic urine indicating an acidic tissue pH and there were malabsorption problems with mineral levels low, high free radical activity with a biological age of 53; chronological at time of testing was 23.
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis showed high levels of heavy metals such as beryllium, mercury, arsenic and aluminium, with low levels of minerals and trace elements such as copper, manganese and cobalt.
Heart Rate Variabilty (HRV) testing a relatively healthy picture with a slightly increased sympathetic activity, but the overall HRT score on the orthotest was 6,3 which is slightly above the average found generally (perfect score is 1,1).
Bach remedies were given to help ease the anxiety and fear of the disease, as well as the despondency. He has noticed that when he is stressed, particularly during the summer when his friends from university disband, he feels a little down and some symptoms come back. He was also advised to keep away any electrical devices to the brain, including mobile phones and use the speakerphone if necessary. A whole body detoxification with fruit, vegetables and their juices, vegetable soups and steamed vegetables and salads were allowed for 2 weeks – this greatly helps to alleviate the inflammatory chemicals in the body caused by a number of toxins and imbalanced pH.
He was advised to stop using the mobile phone and only use it for a few minutes at a time with Bluetooth which uses sound waves, not microwaves. Using Tachyon energy chips in the mobile phone would also help to reduce the electromagnetic fields. Also, tachyon crystals can be used on his person and in his surroundings to neutralize the electromagnetic fields from electronic equipments and computer screens.
The HMD™ Ultimate Detox Protocol was used to eliminate the cocktail of heavy metals. Interestingly, on the initial hair tissue mineral analysis there was no heavy metals shown in circulation, but two months later, while on the HMD protocol, it showed that there were quite high levels of beryllium, mercury, arsenic and aluminium in storage sites of the body. Mr. S is now being monitored every two months using the hair test to determine whether the level of metals is dropping. On the last test it showed that the levels of toxic metals had dropped to a significantly low levels, an indication that there is probably very few metals in storage sites of the body. Removing this high load of toxic metals will greatly reduce the free radical load and facilitate health and healing.
In addition, he took a number of nutritional supplements such as a high-potency multivitamin and multimineral supplement, as well as omega 3,6 and 9 fatty acids, betaine HCl plus pepsin for stomach digestion and a pancreatic digestive enzyme to facilitate gut digestion. He was also given Essiac Tea which contains Burdock root, Turkey rhubarb, Sheep’s sorrel in order to help boost immunity. He also took powdered calcium ascorbate, a buffered form of vitamin C – approximately 12-15 grams daily. He has also been taking systemic enzymes – Wobenzyme-N in order to help digest the silao-glycoprotein coating of the cancer cells and allow the WBC’s access to attack.
Another important treatment that he has been doing courses of intermittently is the PAPIMI – this has helped with the loss of sensation, coordination and balance problem and general “brain fuzziness” which he developed in September 2009 on his right side and is intermittent. The PAPIMI has greatly helped to bring sensation back into the right side and clear this fuzziness and help his balance and coordination.
He is presently on an optimum diet. All cells contain special “suicide genes” - p53 - that, when activated, can kill them. Normally, this is what happens when a cell is in danger of becoming a cancer cell. More and more nutrients have been found to wake up this vital gene, including extracts of both green tea and persimmon, curcumin, apigenin, quercetin, luteolin and resveratrol. DHA, from omega-3 fats, can also activate the cancer cell’s suicide genes.
As I have mentioned and explained in detail in chapter 11, inflammation is key to the development of cancer. Recent studies have shown that it also plays a major role in the growth and spread of the disease. Experiments found that when inflammation was triggered near a small cancer, it became very aggressive and spread faster. Mr. S is now very aware of this fact and takes precautions to avoid excessive inflammation -
Curcumin is a powerful anti-inflammatory comparable to the strongest drugs - minus their side effects - and has turned out to be one of the most powerful cancer inhibitors found thus far. It uses a number of mechanisms to effectively restore bone marrow cells, build muscle, heal wounds, stimulate detoxification and suppress the COX-2 enzyme.
Proanthrocyanadins (from grapes), resveratrol (grape skins), quercetin (onions, apples and teas), hesperidin (oranges), naringenin (grapefruit), aged garlic extract, vitamin E succinate, gamma-tocopherol (type of vitamin E), boswellia and bromelain have all been shown to significantly reduce inflammation and do so safely.
Optimizing diet and avoiding foods that can acidify the body and fuel cancer cells such as sugar, omega-6 fats, methionine, glutamate and aspartate, as well as making it more prone to inflammation. Recent findings have shown that glutamate is a powerful stimulant of cancer growth and invasion has caused great concern. In fact, drugs that block glutamate were proven to significantly slow the growth of cancers and remarkably enhance the effectiveness of cancer chemotherapy agents. Most sensitive were malignant brain tumors, as well as cancer of the breasts, colon and lungs. It’s a shame that most oncologists are not aware of this as they can use it for the best benefit of the patient.
All of this becomes very important when you realize that the modern American diet is loaded with glutamate in the form of MSG (monosodium glutamate), hydrolyzed proteins, caseinate, soy products and natural flavourings. Our obsession with soy is ludicrous when you realize that soybeans have one of the highest glutamate levels in the plant kingdom. Mushrooms, especially portobello mushrooms, also have high levels.
One of the most concise studies on the ability of fruits and vegetables to prevent cancer used the best of over 200 human and 22 animal studies available. The conclusion was that eating five servings of fruits and vegetables daily reduced cancer incidence by fifty percent. For some cancers, the reduction was seventy-five percent. On the other side of the coin, deficiencies in certain nutrients have been shown to increase cancer risk anywhere from 200 to 1,600 percent. Mr. S very rarely ate fruit and vegetables during childhood and teenage years.
Further things on his “to do” list include: detoxifying every 6 months, removing heavy metals, taking a constant supply of the anti-inflammatory nutrients as well as those that that keep the p53 gene switched on and more.
Patient’s own account
It was a beautiful Sunday morning 2006, when I woke up and I felt the whole of the right side of my body going numb. I couldn’t feel anything. Even the same side of my head was numb. I was a university student at that time in Greece. I went to the hospital with my room-mate for blood tests and the results showed nothing pathological and we went home. On the following Wednesday, I felt this paresthesia again on the same side of my body and I also had an epileptic crisis and they took me immediately to the hospital. They conducted a CT scan and an MRI scan of my brain and the diagnosis was a brain tumour in the left side of my brain. They suggested to leave the country immediately, go to UK and have the tumor removed, because they did not perform such kind of operations there.
I quit my studies in the middle of the year and in June 2006 my parents arranged the hospital in UK which I would be operated. I had 60% of the tumour removed. The doctors told me that the biopsy showed that it was low grade astrocytoma and that I shouldn’t worry, because most probably it would not grow again or metastasize. So I left England and the same story with epileptic crisis went on. I started antiepileptic drugs but no change at all.
In July 2007, I had an MRI scan again and unfortunately, I had bad news again. The rest of the tumour which could not be removed started to grow again. I was 26 years old at that time and my stress levels were really going through the roof having to cope with all this. It was overwhelming because I never had to deal with any health problems before. We did a lot of searching with my parents and we found out that in Germany there is one of the best neurosurgeons dealing with brain tumors. So in the middle of September 2007 I had the operation in Germany which took 12 hours!
This time, 95% of the tumour was removed. They did a biopsy again and this time thy told me that it is a Stage IV malignant glioma and I needed radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The doctor was very positive about my situation and very encouraging. When I arrived in Cyprus in October, I started chemotherapy and I had nine sessions. I felt terrible! These were indeed the worst days of my life. I had nausea and vomiting all the time, felt very weak, my energy levels were extremely low, I was lethargic and I could hardly walk from one room to the other of the house.
After the operation in Germany though, I felt better. I started being more positive despite the chemotherapy. I also had radiotherapy for about 6 weeks. I still had this right-sided paresis, sometimes with dizziness and speech arrest but not so often now. I tried to stay positive despite the continuation of my problems even though the tumour was removed.
During my stay in Germany, I met a woman from Cyprus and she told me about the DaVinci Natural Health Center, here in Larnaca, She insisted that I visit the Centre as soon as I returned and see Dr. Georgiou in person.
In August 2008 I called and spoke to Dr. Georgiou and arranged to be seen the same month. I had an extensive series of tests called the IDEL Diagnostic Program, designed to identify and eliminate all the possible causative factors of my health problems. It took Dr. Georgiou just over 5 hours to complete all the testing and he explained things on the way. After collecting all the health data from these tests I began a treatment programme that made me feel so much better. At the same time I learned a lot of things which I was ignorant of.
I began to realize how terrible my eating habits were and as long as I can remember I was always playing electronic games for many hours a day, watching TV, using the mobile phone as if it was going out of fashion – I was heavily laden with electromagnetic and mobile phone stress – this was a highly likely cause that harmed my brain.
After the first two weeks of the treatment protocol at the DaVinci Centre I felt so much more energetic. My progression is very interesting as I feel I have myself back again, my legs are feeling a lot stronger to climb up the stairs and this right-sided paresthesia doesn’t happen so often anymore. I live a healthy life without making my body toxic with chemotherapies and different kinds of food that harm my body.
I am thankful to the lady that insisted that I visit the Da Vinci Holistic Health Center as well as to Dr. Georgiou himself for all the support that he has given me even in my more desperate moments.
I feel an 80% improvement in all my symptoms and my energy levels are really quite optimal, something that is helping me to complete my MSc and keep up to speed with everyone else, even though I have part of my brain missing.
Last months MRI scan (May 2009) showed that there was no change as far as the 5% of the remaining tumour is concerned. I am really heartened that the DaVinci Centre is just around the corner and I will continue to have follow-up treatments, including the PAPIMI which has greatly helped the paresthesia and balance issues. I am now much more optimistic about my prognosis as one of the things that Dr. Georgiou has helped me to understand are the causative factors of my illness, and I have made concerted efforts to change my life-style dramatically to one that is a lot more healthy.
Dr Georgiou’s final comments:
It is heartening to see that Mr. S’s MRI scans have shown stability since I first met him in November 2007. Specifically, his latest MRI scan a few months ago read: “There have been no changes in the appearance of the post operative changes in the left parietal and temporal lobe in comparison with the previous scan dated 14.4.08. There is no evidence of abnormal enhancement in the surgical bed to indicate recurrent or residual tumour. There have been no changes in the gliosis surrounding the post operative cavity.”
It is difficult to be certain what causes such brain tumours at such a young age – probably the high use of the electromagnetic equipment and mobile phone was one major factor, along with the very poor diet with its high sugar content and no fruit and vegetables, that helped to keep his body in a state of inflammation and acidic pH – again factors that facilitate oxygen levels to drop in the body which would trigger oncogenes and begin the cascade of cancer cell proliferation. Heavy metals, low levels of mineral, systemic candidiasis and poor digestion will add to the load and make things worse.
There is now considerable research that has shown the link between mobile phone use and brain tumours,,, specifically the research has shown that mobile phone use leads to:
There is no doubt that microwaves and RF from mobile phones can penetrate the brain causing harm.
Eating a lot of sweets and carbohydrates could also cause brain damage for three reasons:
1. Sugar dramatically increases metabolism, and high rates of metabolism are the major source of free radicals. In fact, 95 percent of all free radicals come from metabolism.
2. Second, high levels of sugar in the body cause the sugar to react with various critical proteins, including enzymes that repair DNA damage caused by free radicals.
3. When high levels of sugar are combined with high fat levels over a long period of time, cells cannot absorb the sugar needed to produce energy.
Finally, consumption of large amounts of excitotoxins can seriously damage the brain. Excitotoxins found in many fast foods, sweets with colourings and other processed foods dramatically increase free radical generation for a prolonged period after a single exposure. Heavy metals such as aluminium and mercury have a natural affinity for the brain and can cause serious free radical damage.
Mr. S is still young and has many years ahead of him – he is presently in remission and it is predicted that he will stay this way for a long time to come if he is careful with his lifestyle. He has a lot to achieve as he is completing his Master’s degree presently at the University of Cyprus and is considered a good scholar. Let’s all bow to Mr. S for his courage, determination and struggle to keep ahead when faced with such a life-threatening illness at such a tender age.
